The surface texture is organic in the truest sense — irregular, slightly uneven, with the kind of variation that only comes from hand-finishing rather than machine polishing. No two sections of the band catch light exactly the same way. The matte body is interrupted at the edges by a fine polished line that runs the circumference of each ring, giving the piece just enough structure to stop it reading as unfinished. That contrast is what makes it work.
Champagne gold was the right call for this kind of surface. White gold at this texture tends to read cold and industrial. Champagne gold sits warmer, closer to the colour of natural stone or aged timber — which is exactly the register this brief was asking for. The men’s band runs at 4.5mm, substantial enough to carry the texture without feeling heavy. The ladies’ band at 3mm follows the same design language in a lighter profile, so they read as a pair without being identical.
Commission Showcase
These customised wedding bands were created exclusively for a GIOIA client and are not available for purchase. Every piece we make is a one-of-a-kind commission built around a specific brief. If this design speaks to you, we can create something in the same spirit — in your preferred metal, width, and finish, guided by Cheryl Woon.
