Double Halo Diamond Design
A halo does more than add sparkle. The ring of small diamonds around a centre stone creates a border of bright white that makes the colour inside it look deeper and more saturated by comparison, the same way a pale mount makes a painting’s colours sing. With a fresh blue green like this tourmaline, that effect is worth doubling. The second halo extends the band of white further, intensifying the contrast and giving the eye a clear path straight to the colour.
There is a practical benefit too. A double halo diamond ring increases the overall face, so a centre stone of a given size carries far more presence on the hand than it would alone. For a coloured stone where colour rather than sheer size is the point, a double halo lets a beautifully coloured tourmaline command a setting without needing to be large. It is a design that spends its diamonds where they do the most for the colour.
