At the centre of this teal sapphire icy peaks diamond ring rests a pear teal sapphire, its colour caught between deep blue and green, the shade of a glacial lake holding the light of the sky. It is an unheated sapphire, its blue-green entirely the work of nature and confirmed by Clarence Yee, co-founder and gemstone specialist, before the design began. On either shoulder, round brilliant diamonds rise and fall in an uneven line, and it is there that the ring tells its story.

Set in white gold, the piece keeps to a cool, wintry palette of silver, ice and deep teal water. The diamonds sparkle in support of the sapphire rather than in competition with it, so the eye travels from the bright peaks along each shoulder inward to the still colour at the centre. Sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness, which suits a gemstone engagement ring meant to be worn every day for a lifetime.

The Icy Peaks Design

Icy Peaks was made for a couple who know the view from the top of a run. For anyone who has stood at the head of a piste in the quiet after fresh snow, with the Alps stretching away in a line of white summits against a clear winter sky, that horizon stays with you. This custom ring sets out to hold that sweet memory. The diamonds along each shoulder are set to climb and dip like a ridge of snow-capped peaks, an uneven skyline rather than a straight row, so the design carries the drama of the mountains rather than simply bordering the stone.

Three ideas hold the piece together: a diamond rhythm that rises and falls like a mountain contour, a peak-like line drawn from the landscape rather than a ruler, and a quiet brilliance that lets the diamonds glitter like sun on snow without overwhelming the stone. At the heart of it sits the teal sapphire, the colour of alpine water beneath the ice, the still centre of a wintry view built to be worn.
