Colour change sapphires are one of the more quietly compelling stones in the market. It might not be as well known as alexandrite gemstone but capable of a genuine shift between lighting conditions. This 1.35ct unheated sapphire moves between a bluish purple in daylight and a warmer pinkish purple under incandescent light. At this weight in round brilliant, the colour return is consistent and strong across every angle.
The violet blue spinel side stones were chosen specifically to anchor the stone’s cooler colour state. In daylight, the spinel and the sapphire sit in the same tonal family. Under warm light, when the sapphire shifts toward pinkish purple, the spinel provides contrast. The diamonds keep the setting from reading too dense. Platinum was the right metal, white enough to let both stones read clearly, durable enough for a ring worn daily.
